Desperate Romantics on DVD

Many thanks to my friend Edie for the heads-up on this one. Although the in/famous BBC miniseries Desperate Romantics has been available in Region 2 for some time, the DVD now has a release date for North American Region 1 format.

Be sure to pick it up on July 20th.

Thanks for the heads-up! I love DR in all its madcap historically-cavalier glory. :-)

At some points I winced, but I mostly just enjoyed :D

I had no idea this existed! Although I trust it is somewhat of a mockery I'll definitely purchase it when it comes out.

Who is Fred Walters? I thought I knew something about the PRB; did I miss him or is he an invention of the writers to change what was truly an amazing story into a lesser device of their own?

Hi Robert,

It does turn the PRB into a bit of a parody, but I still found it interesting. I'll take what I can get I suppose.

The character of Fred was indeed created for the series as a sort of "every man" entry into the world of the Brotherhood. Entirely unnecessary.

Here's my review of the series:
