Every now and then, I peruse ebay to try to find non-print, unique Pre-Raphaelite items. Tonight I discovered a gorgeous find.
This ebay seller has two of J.W. Waterhouse's artworks available in statue form. And they are, in my opinion, beautiful. I'm especially tempted to purchase the
Lamia statue. I wonder where I could find room for it in our small apartment...

The Danaides is lovely, though the picky part of me feels the mythic purpose of the vessel is defeated without the water pouring back out of the gargoyle's mouth)

I believe those are from Pacific Trading. They make some things from my artwork too. Anyway they do have a whole bunch of reproductions of classical and renaissance art and a few 19th century.

i like your blog......
Hi Meredith, thanks for tracking down the source! Looks like the ebay auctions have a slightly better price on them. They seem to be beautiful statues.
Thank you, goooood girl for the compliment!
Oh YUMMMM!!! Those are so beautiful! I especially like the Lamia one. I am going to have to look up Pacific Trading! :)
The statues are just incredible. What a spectacular find!
Hello Grace,
These statues are really nice, particularly Lamia. I have to agree with you on The Danaides about the lack of water coming out of the gargoyle. As well done as they are though, I do prefer coloured things. Maybe the makers will hand-paint them one day? Anyway, your post got me to looking on ebay.co.uk and I found a few things you might like to see. I'm not sure if they're on the American site or not. Here's a 1904 print of Psyche Entering Cupid's Garden, signed by Waterhouse himself (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/JOHN-WILLIAM-WATERHOUSE-PRINT-PRE-RAPHAELITE-GIRL_W0QQitemZ350129309387QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_art_prints_GL?hash=item350129309387&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1294|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318). There's also an Ophelia 1910 tapestry (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/OPHELIA-John-W-Waterhouse-Woven-Tapestry-Wall-Hanging_W0QQitemZ180289143927QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Antiques_AntiqueTextiles_EH?hash=item180289143927&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1294|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318). If you View seller's other item's you'll find quite a few more Pre-Raphaelite tapestries with about 4 or 5 Waterhouse ones in the mix. There's also a Waterhouse bracelet (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PRE-RAPHAELITE-art-John-William-Waterhouse-bracelet_W0QQitemZ370107783464QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Jewellery_Watches_CostumeJewellery_CA?hash=item370107783464&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1294|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318). Again, look at the sellers other items and there's other bracelets and necklaces there as well. Lastly, if you're interested, I wrote a little on my blog (http://www.imaginata.co.uk/blog/) about my recent visit to Waterhouse's grave at Kensal Green Cemetery in London (with a few photo's) as well as visiting the Tate Gallery to see the Lady of Shalott and St Eulalia. Not great writing I admit, but fun all the same. I'm still enjoying your blog, by-the-way. Keep it up!
Cheers,
Jim
P.S. Sorry about all the long links!
Thank you, Jim! I might use some of those links for my "Pre-Raphaelite Christmas" blog I hope to do soon. The Waterhouse Ophelia tapestry is especially tempting. That's a favorite artwork of mine, in case you couldn't tell (gestures at the blog banner...lol)
