I've been enthusiastically making pop culture silhouettes to sell on Etsy, and to put on the walls of our new home. Well, thanks in large part to Raine's amazing cartoons, I decided that Ned and Topsy definitely have distinctive enough profiles to make them silhouettes. I put this together yesterday:
The background of the profiles is two pages of the Kelmscott Chaucer. I thought...what better way to show the cooperative and brilliantly artistic relationship between these two men than with pages of one of the masterpieces they created together?
I like those. They look gorgeous on your wall.
ReplyDeleteOh, awesome!! The Kelmscott Chaucer is a beautiful touch. Did I mention I LOVE the way your house is decorated, too..?
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful, and the Kelmscott Chaucer background is inspired. I do wonder how the silhouettes would look against a coloured background - William and Jane Morris against the Daisy pattern that he designed and she embroidered on their Red House bedroom wall-hangings, perhaps?
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful, I would love that on my wall!
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone for the compliments!! Victorianlibrarian, I almost used the Daisy pattern, actually...great minds think alike ;) I thought the Chaucer was a nice choice for Ned and Topsy because they worked on it together, but I bet Daisy would be lovely for Jane.
