This past weekend, I had the pleasure of helping Tess with her booth at the Dublin Irish Festival. Throughout the weekend, we had several amusing encounters with inebriated people, and I choked twice on remembering names of Waterhouse paintings, much to my chagrin. Two especially amusing anecdotes..
The drunk guys who came up to the beautifully framed canvas of Waterhouse La Belle Dame Sans Merci and starting poking the canvas with their fingers, saying "the Pre-Raphs were freaking HOT. They were HOT!" (imagine said in a drunk voice)
The lady on Sunday who pulled out a print of Alain Chartier by Leighton, and said "it looks like they're lining up to kiss him!"
Also, Tess had a really neat cotton tapestry for sale, with art inspired by Waterhouse's Destiny. Check it out!
Wow! she must really be on the mend! I'm so glad :-)
ReplyDeleteOH YEAH! Bring it on, Grace! That tapestry is TDF! I was thinking about you dear friend and wondering how this festival went! I am sooooo glad to hear that Tess was up for it; it was great of you to help her out. It looks like you got some laughs out of the weekend as well! I have a question for you. What image is your favorite of the pre-raphs? Let me know. I have an art project and I want to give you something. Anita
ReplyDeleteHi Grace! Thanks for stopping by. Thanks as well for giving me the answer to my question; it would be hard to select a favorite among these works...Ruben and I went to the Minneapolis library this weekend and did some research on some art. It was a blast and we are going to either purchase something or scan from the old portfolios that are public domain...I will contact you later. Have a smashing day! Anita
