Two William Morris-Inspired Projects

Today I'm sharing two projects by modern artists inspired by the work of William Morris.

First of all, thanks to Mezzky for sharing this Kickstarter artst's project, creating a found-art installation based on Strawberry Thief. All of the individual pieces of this artwork will be jewelry, and be able to be worn individually.

Second, artist David Mabb created this self-portrait based on a famous photograph of Rodchenko taken by Mikhail Kaufman. In Mabb's version, the production suit worn in the original artwork is covered with William Morris wallpaper patterns.

Original photograph inspiration:

I don't know what Morris would have thought of these projects, but it is still interesting to see his work inspiring modern artists in two very different mediums today.

Morris seems much in the news at the moment - for some of us at least, his ideas still inspire as well.
