Thieving Strawberry Thief

On a recent Google image search, I found several delightfully amusing examples of reuse of the William Morris Strawberry Thief pattern for other items.

For instance, how about on your Nikes?

Imagine this mirror in a room with Strawberry Thief wallpaper. Wow!

Or on a wallet?

Morris' designs are truly timeless!

Tess Avelland Benefit Auctions

The benefit LJ group for Tess Avelland (the owner of Midnight Muse, and the most brilliant woman I know when it comes to knowledge and identification of Pre-Raphaelite and Romantic art) is holding auctions right now to try to raise money for her medical expenses. Please visit the group at

http://community.livejournal.com/weloveyoutess/

and bid on items (by placing your bid in the comments) to help support one of the most awesome people in the universe! There are some truly wonderful items there from a variety of talented people.

Hopefully auctions will be held at least 1 week a month, and I'll notify the blog of each set.

Meeting on the Turret Stairs

Just a quick thing to share today. I was searching Google images for the Frederick Burton painting Meeting on the Turret Stairs, and I came across this really great modern photographic interpretation on Flickr.

Waterhouse documentary

Thanks again to a post on Art Magick for this info. There is a new 50-minute Waterhouse documentary online! It's sublime to watch for anyone who enjoys the work of this brilliant artist. I was elated the whole time I was watching.

Note: The beginning of the film isn't in English, but the rest is.

Rossetti's Wombat

Thanks to a post on the ArtMagick forums for this tip. There's a new book out on the subject of Rossetti's pet wombat. I love the idea of a book that approaches the Brotherhood from such a quirky angle! Hopefully I can obtain this book somehow.
